Healing in the Waiting ~ Trusting God in the Process

Healing in the Waiting... Trusting God in the Process.

Healing doesn’t always look the way we thought it would.

In this season, one of the deepest truths I’ve had to process is that healing is not a straight, predictable path. It doesn’t arrive all at once, neatly wrapped and complete. Instead, it often unfolds slowly, layer by layer, moment by moment.

I’m reminded of Psalm 42:1 "As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs for You, O God.”

There are moments when pain, rejection, trauma, and disappointment leave you feeling desperate, for peace, for clarity, for relief, and for Him. In those moments, survival becomes the priority. You’re simply trying to get through the day, the situation, and the weight of it all.

Healing goes beyond survival....there is a deeper work that happens when we allow the Lord to truly mend our broken hearts and set captives free (see Psalm 147:3; Luke 4:18). Sometimes that process can take longer than we expect.

Healing comes in waves. Some days you feel whole, strong, and renewed. Other days, something small can stir up on the inside – emotions you thought were already healed. It’s in those moments you realize there are still tender places God is gently restoring. Yet even in the ups and downs, there is a constant truth that remains unshaken – God has never left you, and He has never forsaken you. (see Deuteronomy 31:6)

Even when life looks different than you imagined, His love has not changed, His acceptance has not changed, and His power to work in your life has not changed.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Even in your weakest, most broken places, He is still working.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

What feels unfinished to you is not forgotten by Him.

If your heart is craving healing and wholeness today, take comfort in knowing that God is not rushing your process. He is walking with you through it.

Action Step

Take 10 minutes today and sit quietly with God, no filters, and no pretending.

Ask Him honestly:

“Lord, what part of my heart are You still healing?”

Write down what comes to mind, and instead of resisting it, invite Him into it.

Healing begins when we stop hiding and start surrendering.

Father God,

Thank You for being near to the brokenhearted and faithful in every season. Thank You that even when healing feels slow or uncertain, You are still working behind the scenes of our lives.

Lord, help us not to rush what You are carefully restoring. Give us the courage to face the hard places within our hearts and the trust to know that You are gentle in Your healing.

Remind us that Your love has never changed, Your presence has never left, and Your plans for us are still good. Strengthen us in our weakness, and teach us to rest in Your grace.

We surrender every broken place to You today, believing that You are making all things new.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
