When Mountains Move
🏔️ When Mountains Move God Is My Help
There’s a song by Crowder called “When Mountains Move (Somebody Prayed)” that stirs something inside me every time I hear it. The lyrics remind me that sometimes our greatest prayer isn’t long or poetic, it’s just real.
Sometimes all we can manage is: “God, help me.”
And that’s enough, because our help doesn’t come from our own strength, it comes from the Lord
Psalm 54:4 says, “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.”
💭 When You Don’t Know What to Pray
There are moments when the mountains in front of us feel unmovable. The weight of uncertainty can make it hard to even form words. Yet in those quiet, desperate places, the Spirit still hears our cry.
Even when all you can whisper is “help,” Heaven is listening. Even when you feel weak, God is strong, and even when you feel unsure, He’s already working out the solution.
God’s Word says:
“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31
Waiting isn’t wasting time. Waiting is trusting time. It’s saying, “Lord, I may not see it yet, but I know You’re moving.”
🙌 The Help Is Already There
So many times, we pray and then panic, wondering how or when God will come through. It’s important for us to remember that God is not scrambling to find an answer. The help was prepared before you even asked.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” saith the Lord.” — Isaiah 55:8
There’s a woman in Mark 5:25–28 who had been sick for twelve long years. She had every reason to give up, but she didn’t. She heard about Jesus and believed that just one touch could change everything. She didn’t say a fancy prayer. She didn’t have a plan B. She simply reached out in faith. The moment she did, everything changed.
Your help, too, is already there. You just have to reach out and grab it.
💡 Don’t Box God In
It’s easy to put God inside the box of our expectations. We want Him to move our way, on our schedule, and through our plan. But Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God’s thoughts toward us are far greater than anything we could imagine.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
When you trust God completely, you learn to thank Him before you even see the outcome.
You start to say, “God, thank You for the solution You’ve already prepared.” As you do this, favor begins to follow you.
Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”
That favor isn’t just for when life feels good, it’s also for when you’re weary, waiting, and wondering.
✋ Activation #1: Reach Out in Faith
Maybe you’ve been waiting on a breakthrough, but fear has made you stop reaching. This week, stretch out your hand again. Speak faith over your situation.
Say out loud:
“God, I believe you are helping me right now.”
Faith moves mountains not because of how big our belief is, but because of who we believe in.
🕊️ Activation #2: Reframe Your Waiting
If you’ve been in a season of waiting, remember waiting is not punishment, it’s preparation.
Ask the Lord,
“What are You teaching me in this season?”
Let God renew your strength in the waiting. Sometimes the mountains in your life don't move until your heart shifts from worry to worship, and from fear to faith.
❤️ Life Application
When the challenges come this week, instead of reacting in panic, pause and pray:
“God, thank You for the solution You already have for me.”
Don’t let frustration take over. Let faith take over.
Keep your eyes on the One who never fails, and remember that your help comes from the Lord.
Psalm 119:173 says, “May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.”
Stay in the Word. Stay in faith.
And watch what happens when Heaven’s help meets your obedience.
🙏 Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for being my ever-present help in time of need.
When I can’t see the way, help me trust that you've already made one.
Teach me to wait well, to reach in faith, and to walk in obedience.
Fund me with Your favor as a shield and renew my strength while I wait.
Lord, move the mountains that stand in the way of Your purpose in my life, in Your perfect time and by Your perfect plan.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
