Deeply Loved
“And just as Moses in the desert lifted up the brass replica of a venomous snake on a pole for all the people to see and be healed, so the Son of Man is ready to be lifted up, so that those who truly believe in Him will not perish but be given eternal life.
For here is the way God loved the world–He gave His only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in Him will never perish but experience everlasting life.”
—John 3:14-16 TPT
Our Heavenly Father created us and He deeply loves us. In fact, God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus just to be with us! He sacrificed His sinless, righteous Son to pay the penalty price for our sin. He gave Him up for us all because of His great love for us (see Romans 5:8). Now we have right standing with God and He sees us as righteous, innocent in God’s sight, despite our sins.
Whether on the giving side or the receiving end, we’ve all gone through hurtful experiences when it comes to love. We must remember, though, that Jesus did say that we will have troubles in this world.
“For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world.” —John 16:33 TPT
See, even Jesus told us we will have these hurtful situations in our life! Despite the hurts and difficulties we may face, as believers, we can be encouraged to keep a positive attitude because Jesus offers us hope and assurance. He has already defeated the power of the world and its troubles.
Because of the hurts we feel, we may be afraid to open our hearts to love, or we may have closed up shop completely. DON’T DO IT! You will be not only shutting out the one who hurt you, but also your family and God. Those who truly care for you will show their deep love and be an encouragement for you.
Friends, please don’t seal off your heart when hurt comes your way. Jesus offers us peace and a love that is nothing like worldly love. He is always with you and He will never let you down.
Sometimes this world can hurt us so much that we want to turn a blind eye to it. We don't want to be loved because being loved hurts. Love can be hard when the love we've been receiving feels toxic and tainted. When love comes with strings it can feel very disingenuous. It can cause us to question if love is even real. But when we look at love through the eyes of Jesus, we know that it is real and beautiful. Let us not forget …..God loved us all so much that He allowed his own Son to die on a ✝️ cross for our sins. That's how much we are loved.
Today I want to encourage you to think about that the next time you're questioning love. Friends, know that you are deeply loved, and know that you are valued by the One who created you.
“So this is my parting command: Love one another deeply!” —John 15:17 TPT
