When the Weight Feels Too Heavy

When the Weight Feels Too Heavy

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” —

Matthew 11:28-30

What’s been on your mind lately, dear reader? What burdens have you been quietly trying to ignore? What have you been carrying in your heart that feels too overwhelming to even put into words?

The truth is, you don’t have to carry it alone. God, in His great love, never intended for us to wrestle through life’s hardest moments by ourselves. He gave us a Helper - Jesus, a Savior who listens, who cares, and who is always present. There is no burden too small for His attention and no problem too big for His power. Why not bring it to Him today? You truly have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.

I may not know exactly what you’re facing right now, but I do know this - Jesus loves you deeply, and He is more than capable of handling all your problems. If He conquered the grave, then your situation is not beyond His reach.

Are you struggling in relationships? So many of us are walking through that right now. Parenting, especially in the pre-teen and teenage years, can stretch your heart in ways you never expected. Watching your child wrestle between childhood and independence can be both beautiful and incredibly hard.

I’ll be honest, this is a season I’m walking through right now with my oldest. It’s not easy. We don’t always get along like we used to. There are moments that test my patience and challenge my heart. But one thing I refuse to let go of is hope. I believe this season is temporary. I believe healing and growth are coming. I’ve had to remind myself of something important: every child is different, and every season has its challenges. The world may try to label and compare, but truthfully, all children need grace, guidance, and love.

So I ask you, what are you holding onto today – is it hope, or is it fear, is it truth, or lies?

Fear has a way of creeping in and convincing us that things will never change. It whispers that it’s too hard, too broken, or too far gone. FEAR IS A LIAR!

God’s Word tells us otherwise:

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

If you’re longing for healthier relationships, deeper peace, or breakthrough in any area of your life, ask Jesus for it. Don’t let fear hold you back from bringing your heart honestly before Him, but keep asking, don’t give up.

We all must keep loving and keep praying, even when frustration sets in.

At times, the most powerful prayers are the ones we pray through tears, through disappointment, and through weariness. Choose to believe that change is possible in God’s perfect timing.

Two Action Steps:

Release It to Jesus

Take a few quiet moments today and intentionally give your burden to God. Say it out loud if you need to. Be honest. Be real. Then choose to trust Him with what you’ve released.

Pray With Purpose (Even When It’s Hard)

Pick one person or situation that’s been weighing on your heart and commit to praying for it daily this week. Not just quick prayers, but intentional, faith-filled prayers, believing that God is working behind the scenes.

Jesus, sometimes we hesitate to come to You because fear tells us our problems are too big, or too small for You to care about. But today, we recognize that fear is a liar. Help us to release every burden into Your hands. Strengthen our faith to believe that mountains can be moved, that storms will pass, and that better days are ahead. Teach us to trust Your timing and Your plan. Give us the courage to keep praying, keep loving, and keep hoping. Amen.

Before you go, take a moment to soak in a reminder that brighter days really are coming…🎶“Brighter Days” by Blessing Offor. Let it encourage your heart today.
