Life Can Be Hard

Life Can Be Hard
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” —John 16:33
We all know that life can be hard. That’s no secret. At times, it can even feel downright dreadful or unfair. Not every day will smell like a bed of sweet roses. When things feel stressful and intense, it can be difficult to see and truly believe that God is working all things out for our good (see Romans 8:28). In the middle of our messes, we often forget that God’s love for us never changes. He loves us endlessly, and He always will.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” —Hebrews 13:8
“I am the LORD, and I do not change.” —Malachi 3:6
Beloved readers, I don’t know what struggles or challenges you’re facing today. You might be walking through some pretty scary and intense spiritual battles. If so, I want you to know that I’m praying for you. I’ve been there too - in the thick of the battle, wondering if I’d make it out. In those moments, I’ve had to remind myself that we sometimes fight battles not of this world (see Ephesians 6:12). If you’re in that place, please hear this: you need not ever be alone. God is fighting with you and for you.
“The LORD Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” —Exodus 14:14
“This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” —2 Chronicles 20:15
Maybe, like me, you’re dealing with toxic, narcissistic behavior, and maybe it feels like your boundaries are never respected. If so, please know that I truly understand. A wise friend recently shared this with me: “It takes courage to set boundaries, but it takes even more courage to honor them when it’s hard.”
I know firsthand that dealing with a narcissist is hard and can hurt deeply. It’s not easy to walk away. But I want you to believe this truth: God desires healthy and holy relationships for you. He does not want you to be bound by toxic behavior or evil patterns. You were created for more - freedom, peace, and for love that reflects God’s heart
Let’s pray:
Dear God, You see our struggles, and oh how we struggle. We need You, Lord, desperately. The battles are heavy, and the strongholds feel fierce. But You are stronger. Help us to remember that we are never alone. Remind us to love our enemies, even when we must walk away, and help us to hate the evil behavior, but not the person. Strengthen our hearts to trust that You desire only what is good for us. Let us walk in that truth with boldness.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
