From Empty to Full
A Journey Through the Power of Easter
Have you ever felt empty, like something is missing in your life? Even when our days are full and we are busy with people and plans of our own, we can feel empty.
The Easter story speaks directly to that emptiness. Through a series of powerful ‘empty’ images — an empty world, an empty cross, an empty tomb — we see how Jesus came to fill our lives with hope, purpose, and love.
Here is a closer look at how God used emptiness to tell the greatest story ever told.
- An Empty World
“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed... but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” – 1 Peter 1:18-20
Before Jesus, our world was truly empty, not in a physical sense, but spiritually. Sin separated us from the relationship we were created for -– intimacy with a loving God. People have tried to fill this void with success, pleasure, and possessions, but none of it can truly satisfy. Yet, even before the world began, God had a plan. He sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us and bring us into a relationship with Him. The emptiness of the world revealed our need, and His love met that need with grace.
- An Empty Cross
“So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb...” – Mark 15:46
The cross was meant to be an end, a symbol of defeat. But for Jesus, it was only the beginning. When the cross stood empty, it declared victory. Sin had been paid for. Death was defeated. Hope was born. Because the cross is empty, we don't have to live in shame or fear. We are forgiven. We are loved. We are free. The empty cross reminds us that love always has the final word.
- An Empty Tomb
“Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb... He saw the strips of linen lying there... He saw and believed.” – John 20:3-9
When the disciples found the tomb empty, everything changed. Jesus had risen, just as He said He would. The resurrection is the foundation of our faith, the proof that Jesus truly is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
The empty tomb turns sorrow into joy, doubt into faith, and death into life. Because Jesus lives, we have hope that reaches beyond this life into eternity.
- No More Empty Lives
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” – John 12:44-46
Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin. He came to fill us, to bring light to our darkness, to replace our emptiness with purpose, peace, and joy. He fills the gaps no one else can.
We spend so much time trying to fill the empty spaces in our lives with things that don’t last. But Jesus offers something deeper — Himself. When we let Him in, our lives are never the same.
The message of Easter is this: God can take what’s empty and fill it with eternal meaning.

But now, no more empty lives for any of us!
Let Him fill your heart today. You were never meant to live empty.
