A Gift Called Time

A Gift Called Time: Finding Eternal Hope This Christmas

Do you ever feel like time is slipping through your fingers a little more each day?

Time never stops, and it never slows down no matter how much we might want it to. You can’t pause it, you can’t rewind it, and you can’t fast-forward through the painful, awkward, or heartbreaking moments of life. Whether we are ready or not, time marches on. Just as the seasons come and go, so does time.

With all this time moving so fast, does that mean we should live in fear or frustration? Should we dread growing older or fear death? What does it all actually mean?

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” — Psalm 139a

“I will be your God throughout your lifetime–until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you.” — Isaiah 46:4

I believe time is a constant reminder that life is precious. Every breath is a gift from God. He has given us this life, not to waste it or be fearful, but to live with purpose. Time reminds us we are here for a reason. We have a message to share with the world – Hope is alive and His name is Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

God’s Light still shines in the darkness. He is the key to everlasting life. We get to choose how we spend our time on earth. We can squander it on selfishness and fear, or we can surrender it to God allowing Him to shape us, use us, and send us out to share with the world this message:

You don’t have to fear death.

You don’t have to fear tomorrow.

Jesus already defeated death.

Eternal life is real and it’s available to all who believe.

And as we step into this Christmas season, let’s remember time itself changed everything the day Jesus entered the world. Hope came wrapped in swaddling clothes. Eternity stepped into time so we could step into eternal life.

Prayer

Dear God, we confess that fear and worry often grip our hearts. We sometimes fear change. We fear growing older. Some of us even struggle to celebrate our birthdays because we see them as reminders of time slipping away. But Father, we know that You change our thinking. Help us see life as a blessing and time as a gift. Teach us to celebrate every year, every moment, and every lesson we’ve learned along the way.

Fill us with courage and hope. Fear has no place here because Jesus lives. He conquered death and gave us eternal life. As believers we know that physical death is not the end, but the beginning of life eternally with You. Thank You for the gift of time, but more than that, thank You for the gift of eternity through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
