Who Needs Mercy?

Today's scripture: Luke 6:36

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

 Be merciful it can be so hard to do. The world's definitely set some bad standards when it comes to mercy. Really I think if it was up to the world mercy would be done away with all together. You see friends the world loves to tell us to look out for ourselves. To hold onto anger until our fingers bleed. To never forgive anyone that wrongs us or hurts us deeply. Jesus on the other hand tells us to be forgiving. To show grace and mercy to others.

So my friends who or whom do you need to show mercy to? Maybe it's a friend. A coworker or even a family member. Hurt comes in all forms from all kinds of different people. Who do you need to forgive today? Who needs your mercy weather you feel like they deserve it or not. Also remember we don't deserve mercy either. Not a single one of us out there on the planet deserves it. Here's the thing though we are all still given mercy each and every day. Despite our sinful wicked ways Jesus still showers all of us so much grace and mercy. It was our sins that sent Jesus to the cross but you know what Jesus still loves us all. Think about that the next time you want to get bitter and angry. The next time you don't feel like forgiving. 

Father I'm not going to lie being merciful is hard. It definitely takes practice and hard work. We have to remember to lean on Jesus. He after all is the perfect example of true love, grace and mercy. Whenever I feel angry and bitterness threaten to take over my heart I try and remember Jesus. I think about his love for me. I'm reminded of all the times he's forgiven me. There have been so many times when his forgiveness and mercy have been granted to me. Too many times to count. I'm also reminded that forgiveness is for me. It's to set me free from the chains of bitterness and anger. It also doesn't have to mean that you have to stay stuck in toxic unhealthy relationships or situations. I truly don't believe that God would ever want us to be in dangerous soul sucking environments. Don't forget dear reader's you can still love people from a distance if that's what you need to do in order to feel safe or be healthier.  

Today ask yourself who you can show mercy to. If you don't know ask God to search your heart. I know there's someone out there that could use a little grace or mercy weather they deserve it or not. Remember the world has enough hate. Let's show the love of Jesus instead.
